It's kind of a parallel to the way people want to build their ideal homes in the wilderness.
And then need roads, and wires, and pretty soon it isn't wilderness any more.

Me, if I want nature, I'm happy enough in the back yard, or a local park.
The last little bits of un-messed-with wilderness, I'm happy to let them be.
It just doesn't seem right to go trekking through them.
you seem to have some grasp of history ,do you know the real origins of that cave what it was used for and that their are other, older ones in england.ones that the finders were smart enough to keep out of the public domain.
Ken, I'm sure you are going to enlighten me on "the real origins of that cave what it was used for".
[this is good]

Another brilliant post - nicely written. I admire your wordsmithmanship, David, if that's even a word! ;)

The same thing is happening with white nose syndrome in bats - biologists are closing caves to spelunking, worried that people are spreading the disease from cave to cave (not to mention that they don't know if it's a zoonotic infection) - people are outraged.

I'm wholly in favor of ecotourism in place of destroying local natural resources - but this treasure trove of a cave is obviously no longer a treasure if it is destroyed. I hope that the local government finds a way to educate tourists who can't seem to grasp the big picutre.

it was a place for ritual celtic killings, that there were older caves from other people's that lived in caves to survive the last ice age, seems to be kept hidden from the mass of people,or they recreate simmilar caves in nearby locations so as not to lose what these caves have to offer.
Ah Ken, you never disappoint. Yes indeed, there are many caves with ice age art, all over Europe, and indeed, in various forms, all around the world. In the case of Africa and Australia such art was still being created in very recent times, even, occasonally, today. But "ritual celtic killings", uh uh. You've been reading Dan Brown again, haven't you.
um what if i told they found one in china and it predates africa
Well, it might, or might not, do. Your point is?
